This is hard to capture in a photo, and even harder to describe. The interior of the Baptistry is a place to pray, and it is also where John the Baptist is laid to rest. The ceiling, which is what you are looking at, is a mosaic. the biggest piece of it is about the size of a thumbnail. That yellow looking stuff? Gold.

This is inside the Duomo. This is the nave. You could fill this area with pews I guess. It's huge. In the basement of this church is the foundation of a church from 500AD. So it's been a church for a long time, in one way or another.


Looking towards the dome. See the round stained-glass window up there? Below that is where I was walking (That's a walkway up there with little tiny people on it!) when I took the photos of the dome. It is not possible to convey how big this church was with these photos.


Too cool.


Here is where they would say mass. I think they still do.


From there we headed off to find a synagogue.
